the backroom

a lot of things happen there

beyond the eyes of the crowds

the panopticon of the media

the gaze of the masses.

things that shouldn’t happen

things that never did.

but, ohm how they did happen.

everyday, a stream pumped into

the tube feeding the system

making it grow to become

how it is.

thriving, growing, living,

corrupt.

the backroom

is where it was born

conceived, if you will.

the idea of it, not it, itself.

and try to stop it, we do

but in the end, the monster

the black hole of everything

the wide mouth of the beast

swallows us whole and 

to our greatest dread

we become it

we grow used to it, and it

becomes us and our daily motions,

at our greatest disgust

but to what extent

to we let the beast run?

to what extent

do we let the monster ride us

until he delivers

his final message.

To peep into

the backroom

would be blasphemous,

you need powerful glasses

from the land of purity

but alas, ‘twas destroyed.

We’ll never know

what goes on

in the backroom.
